We often get asked what the difference between an electric shower and a power shower is. After all, they sound like they might be the same, but in fact, there are some huge differences. So how do you know which is right for you? The fundamental difference between an electric shower and a power shower is that a power shower pumps the hot and cold water to increase the pressure (it doesn't heat the water), whereas an electric shower uses a heating element to instantaneously heat up the water to your desired temperature. Therefore, a power shower is more suited to homes with low pressure and an electric shower is more suited to homes with higher pressure.
An electric shower is great for the modern, energy conscious family home and has multiple benefits. It runs off just the cold water supply and much like a kettle, only heats up the water when you actually use it. This will save you money on your energy bills because you are not heating up water that you won’t use. Heating the water in this way also means that you will never run out of hot water, no matter how long you shower for. And finally, because an electric shower runs independently of your heating system, even in the event of a boiler breakdown, you will still have hot water for your shower.
